Teatro alla Scala 2017

“La Scala means everything to me. It is the ultimate temple of art. This venue offers you the best of everything, and that’s why I always strive to give my best here as well.”
Maria Callas

La Scala is a temple where artists give their best. Maria Callas said so, and all those who have had the privilege of standing on its stage agree.

On 7 December, 2004, after two long years of restoration, La Scala reopened with the same Première as in its 1778 opening, Antonio Salieri’s “L’Europa Riconosciuta”. The celebrations for the reopening were exhilarating, as was the feeling of living a unique, once in a lifetime event.
It was here that the bond between Bellavista and the Teatro alla Scala was forged.

Meanwhile, for the company, La Scala has become a source of inspiration, to which it continues to dedicate those wines that have a special historical and emotional significance. And so, starting in 2012,
every première has a wine dedicated to it. It’s chosen by inspiration, out of affection and respect for the
place where everyone puts their best foot forward.

It is to these physical locations, celebrated also thanks to a “glass of excellent wine” or a particularly fine view, that the “visual” chosen by Bellavista to honor the Teatro della Scala and its annual première is dedicated. The colors and shapes evoke the windows of the Café Procope, which still exists. The keys of an imaginary piano and the outline of a cello direct attention to the universe of music, which has always been a source of inspiration for Bellavista, whose world is rooted in emotion.
The words “Poetry is liberty”, inside the lovely shape of a grand piano, convey a single, illuminating message: creation is a poetic moment that cannot be reined in or limited by repetitive rules. Creativity is fundamentally free of constraints, and to spread its wings it must have a poetic component and the spontaneity that begets the future.

“POETRY IS FREEDOM”
"My friends, let us sing, let us drink, good friends, some more,
and dance together ! The glass is full, the heart is light, the
glass is full, the heart is light, the glass is full, let’s dance and
sing! Let the bells of freedom ring!"

Andrea Chénier was a historical figure. A friend of Italian writer Ugo Foscolo’s, he was a poet and a political journalist who had the misfortune of being guillotined at the age of thirty, in 1794, during the Reign of Terror, just two days after the same fate befell Robespierre. The opera depicts this turbulent
period, underlining the dark side of revolutionary movements. But there is a story within the story, focused on love, poetry and friendship. These are the emotions that emerge and insistently punctuate a chain of events that changed the course of history.
All this energy is concentrated in a symbolic setting: the literary café. The scenes of “poetry and liberty” are set in the Parisian cafés; Procope, Hottot and Laperouse. They were magical places, incubators of innovation and revolutionary thought. Places that fueled spontaneous creativity through a combination of freely exchanged opinions and warm conviviality.
They retain an almost iconic standing, because it was there that ideas and artistic movements were born and new lifestyles were pursued.
