New Air On Wine
Bellavista Meraviglioso

Alma Gran Cuvée Bellavista is a point of excellence for our understanding of Franciacorta. It is the ultimate expression of a project whose objective has been the search for the pure essence of harmony since 1977. Today it symbolises a tradition that strives to represent, in terms of quality and type, the most mysterious soul of the land of Franciacorta, and the wine-making style of Bellavista.

Loving beauty, loving laughter, loving love”. All this is Teatro alla Scala and all this is Bellavista’s Air your Wine: the magic of an encounter enclosed and celebrated in the 2010 vintage, proud to be the Teatro alla Scala’s wine of honour.

The Pas Operé Cuvée represents classicism. It is the speed and determination shown in perceiving the essential components that can establish and communicate the most authentic meaning of the concept of tradition throughout history.

The Rosé embodies the charm of a proud structure magically twinned with surprising grace. The true essence of the Pinot nero vineyard not only means that colour plays an important role in imbuing the wine with tone and stability, but it also becomes the elusive, delicate and constant taste and olfactory trait that adds distinction to a graceful masterpiece of nature.

The Satèn by Bellavista is the first Italian challenge (1984) to exploit the character of a wine that is capable of enhancing and providing a complete representation of an ideal inspired by sensuality, elegance and seduction.

This represents a concept of contemporary ancestrality. A production philosophy of the early 18th century meets avant-garde technology with the aim of revealing the sublime qualities of a totally natural harmony.

Just like a work of art forces man to be humble in the face of knowledge, creating a cuvée also means understanding the complexity of nature before assembling it in a single 'oeuvre'. That is how Bellavista Vittorio Moretti is created, through a careful selection of harvest that reassert the character and style of a great reserve, the distinctive notes of a wine of exceptional personality, aromatic complexity and extraordinary aging potential.

Alma comes from Latin and means to nourish and to instil character. This word, accompanied by the term “earth”, makes up the name we have given to the still white wine, an unblended Chardonnay that is magically created by the union of four distinct terraced vineyards, with similar exposure, ventilation and texture.

This wine is made from grapes from the vineyard known as Uccellanda, sown exclusively with Chardonnay grapes and located on one of the most luminous and sun-drenched slopes in the Franciacorta area. From here one can admire the entire morainic basin of the Iseo Lake, mostly responsible for the distinctive character of this land within the general array of Italian lands given over to wine-making.

The friars of the Convent of Ss. Annunciata have always produced great wine; Bellavista has been chosen to cultivate a unique and unrepeatable section of vineyard, the expression of an ancient tradition. Above and below a fig tree (that, as the perfect genius loci, divides the ancient 5.45-hectare vineyard into two parts) one encounters two different yet complementary soils ideally suited for a small blending of varietal Chardonnay.

From the outset, the wine-making procedure has always been geared towards getting the most out of the Merlot vine variety, not by exploiting the intrinsic organoleptic qualities of the plant, but by following the beliefs of the palate of our friend Gianni, who loved superior wines with excellent fruity bouquets, yet smooth and wellrounded.

The grapes of this cru originate from the vineyard of the same name, facing south and located on clayey soil in the mid-hills of the Municipality of Adro. After a careful selection process on the vine, carried out by a group of experienced harvesters, the grapes are transported directly into the cellar in small crates. Following an additional selection by the cellar master, the traditional cycle of the oldest red winemaking process begins.

Bellavista’s Arzente is the result of discontinuous distillation of exclusively Chardonnay wines performed using original copper Charentais stills. The wines are picked from a restricted number of select wines from the Franciacorta region and their ageing process takes place in small white oak casks.
